Project overview
The Yahya Hadadi Exhibition was developed as an experimental visual project exploring how a traditional painting could be extended through digital projection. The concept was designed to initially appear as a single, complete physical artwork before selected projected elements gradually began to move.
Case study
Challenge
The central challenge was to merge the physical and digital sections so precisely that the audience would not immediately recognise which parts were painted and which were projected. The animation also needed to remain restrained enough to preserve the visual language of the original artwork.
Approach
A series of visual tests was developed using a video projector, image alignment and animated extensions of the painting. The process focused on matching colour, scale, perspective and texture while experimenting with subtle movement that could reveal the digital layer over time.
Outcome
The project reached an extensive research and testing phase and produced a series of visual experiments and documentation images. The exhibition was ultimately cancelled following the outbreak of COVID-19, but the concept remains a developed proposal for a future mixed-media installation.
