Project overview

This biographical documentary presents the life and work of Farrokh Shayesteh, an Iranian artist and scholar recognised for combining traditional Iranian art with modern influences. The film focuses on his miniature paintings, artistic development and the people and ideas that shaped his creative practice.

Case study

Challenge

The main challenge was to translate a long and complex artistic career into a clear visual narrative. The documentary needed to balance biographical information with close observation of the artworks, while preserving the cultural and historical context behind them.

Approach

The production combined interviews, documentary cinematography and detailed coverage of Shayesteh’s artworks. Particular attention was given to the textures, composition and symbolism of the miniature pieces, allowing the visual material to support the story of his artistic journey.

Outcome

The completed documentary was presented at conferences and cultural events across Iran, helping introduce Farrokh Shayesteh and his work to wider audiences.
